Kilnbridge today announced it has transitioned to become an employee-owned business.
Dermot McDermott, who founded the business and grew it as a privately-owned company for 30 years, has transferred his entire holding into an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT). The shares in the company are now held, collectively, on behalf of all Kilnbridge employees, in the Trust.

On Wednesday 3rd February, Kilnbridge were successfully audited by the BSI for our BIM Level 2 Verified Certification. The audit, undertaken remotely over MS Teams, involved a rigorous examination of the company’s BIM policy, documentation, and processes with a particular focus on assessing the company’s ability to deliver BIM projects compliant to PAS 1192-2.
At a time when most of us were safe in our homes, dry and warm while the wind and rain raged outside, the Gatwick Station project team were carrying out essential redevelopment work over two consecutive railway possession weekends in November.

Kilnbridge has kept their 200 strong team working safely and efficiently throughout these unprecedented times, and have ensured the continued construction of the six heavily reinforced concrete Class 1 nuclear safety structures - known as the Outfall and Intake Heads. These are complex concrete structures which will be transported and lowered to the seabed of the Bristol Channel and connected with the cooling water tunnels currently being constructed at the HPC Site.

The project Water Street Bridge in Canary Wharf has been showered in awards and accolades over the past few years, and now it's fourth major award is within grasp, and we need your help! The project has been automatically entered into the biannual "Tekla Global BIM awards 2020" having won the UK Tekla BIM Award in 2019.
In the Infrastructure category, Water Street Bridge is competing with 18 projects from across the world, as the UK representative of BIM excellence. The winning project of their category is determined by the voting public, and that's where you come in...

In this past week, the Kilnbridge team has completed the first stage of this remarkable feat of engineering, as the team mobilised the two 1050T concrete hulls from their dockside construction site into the adjacent water in King George V Dock. The challenges and risk of this project were enormous, but the team’s expertise in complex engineering and risk management shone through.

Between the 18th and 22nd May, the Kilnbridge team took part in Mental Health Awareness Week and embraced the theme “Kindness”. Not only did we encourage staff to take part in acts of kindness during these difficult times, but we also gave our staff new resources every day to highlight all the ways they can take better care of their mental health.

Last Friday a group of brave Kilnbridge employees abseiled down the 114.5m high ArcelorMittal Orbit tower in Stratford to raise money for the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society!
We have a long standing relationship with the BCCS, who provide wellbeing services for children in Essex and east London.

Last Friday Kilnbridge staff were amongst those competing in a dragon boat race tournament at Docklands Sailing and Watersports Centre organised by Canary Wharf Contractors.
The event raised money for the Canary Wharf Contractors Fund helping local causes and gave us the chance to reclaim the trophy that we won two years ago.

We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a £17 million contract to construct new terminal facilities at London City Airport as part of the City Airport Development Programme!
Kilnbridge will complete the civil works for the airport’s new terminal and energy centres across the next three years in the largest contract awarded to a local company as part of the programme so far.

We were recently visited by the Considerate Constructors scheme at our site in Avonmouth, Bristol which forms part of the Hinkley Point C project.
The visiting monitor was very impressed with both Kilnbridge as a business and the way the site is being managed to meet the criteria of the scheme.

We are pleased to announce that our Waste Management unit has passed an audit for PAS402 Green Compass!
This means that we are now one of only a few environmental contractors in London who are PAS402 certified and we can offer our services by bidding for waste contracts across the entire construction sector.

We are delighted to announce that Water Street Bridge has won the Infrastructure Project award at this year's UK Tekla Awards!
Our project was recognised for its innovative use of BIM and Tekla software, which was used in the construction of a single leaf bascule bridge for the Canary Wharf estate and new Wood Wharf Development.

Last week our team at Hinkley Point C achieved a significant milestone with the first concrete pour on one of the six 5,000t underwater reinforced concrete heads being constructed at the Avonmouth site.
